+ What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment in which pulses of the laser light target the pigment in the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair then absorbs the light and shatters the follicle. This damage inhibts the hairs ability to grow back. However, because the follicle has to be in a certain cycle of it's life, the laser only kills the follicles that are in the correct stage. This is why multiple treatments are needed to catch all of the hairs, as not all of your hairs will ever at once be in the necessary cycle. This leads us into our next question...

+ How many treatments will it take?

The million dollar question! We don't know the exact number of treatments because everyone has different hair with different needs. The average amount of laser treatments can range anywhere from 10-12 treatments. Keep in mind that it could take less, and it could take more! Your treatments will be spaced about 4-6 weeks apart so you will most likely be with us at Laser Loft for about a year before you are hair-free! :)

+ What kind of results can i expect to see?

Results will look different ways for people. You can expect to see some type of progress after each treatment, even if it is very minor. The most common results that people will see are:

  • Hair taking longer to grow back
  • Reduction of the amount of hair on the treated area
  • Thinning of the hair

Keep in mind that these are not the end results, but the kind of things that you can expect to see throughout your laser hair removal treatments.

+ Does it hurt?

While laser hair removal can be slightly uncomfortable, there is no lingering pain that is associated with your treatment. You can expect to feel a sharp, quick snap and then for that to dissipate within a few seconds. To help with comfort, we also have a chiller that blows cold air simultaneously as the laser pulses!

+ Can you treat light colored hair?

No. The laser can only treat hair with pigment. In other words, you must have dark hair in order for laser hair removal to be effective for you. If you have white, grey, blonde, or even red hair, you will not be a suitable candidate for these treatments as there is no pigment that the laser can pick up on for these colors of hair.
